The Prediction Issue

Good morning my Tarot/Divination friends,

Well, there’s little about 2020 that hasn’t already been written. So I’m just going to post this meme and move on . . . .

But how about 2021?

The Predictions

I have been searching the web for Tarot and astrology wisdom about the coming year. One of the best is from numerologist Hans Decoz. He not only writes about 2021, but the problems he saw coming in 2020. His article, titled Phoenix Rising, gives us a lot of hope but I have to admit it’s served with a side dish of It Ain’t Over Yet. Give it a read.

Linda Willow Roberts, a medium and psychometry expert, was interviewed by an Australian site, Body + Soul. While everything, in her estimation, is not coming up roses, there is a definite global shift as we enter the Age of Aquarius around the Winter Solstice (December 21, 2020).

And speaking of the Solstice – on that date Saturn and Jupiter will be hanging out together in Aquarius – as close together as they’ve been in about 400 years. I’m sure you’ve been reading about the Great Conjunction.

From December 16-25, 2020, the two planets will be separated by less than a full-moon diameter, just as the moon is passing close. You can find them in the western sky after sunset. Jupiter is the super-bright one. Saturn has a slight yellowish tinge. If you’ve never been a planet watcher here’s a clue of whether you’re seeing a star or a planet: Planets do not twinkle.

(If you want to get a headstart on some planet-watching, right now Mars is the bright one high in the southwest sky. It actually has a reddish tint.)

You can find some excellent info about the meaning of the Great Conjunction in this article from Astrology.com.

Tarot.com also had a great piece on what we can expect in 2021. A lot of what’s happening in terms of prediction is based on the Great Conjunction.

But What About a Tarot Prediction?

Because so much of what I found was astrology based I went ahead and did a three-card reading for what to expect in 2021. My three questions were:

  1. How will humanity fare in 2021?
  2. What will 2021 mean for the issue of global warming?
  3. How will humanity respond to the challenges of 2021?

I know, not your usual questions – but these are the ones I felt I needed to ask.

For question #1, I drew the Knight of Wands. Clearly COVID is not behind us, nor is poverty, inequality or most of society’s ills. However, that Knight is determined to race ahead, searching for the solutions that will be the best for EVERYONE. He is fired up and ready to get to work. In answer to the question, I think we’re being told that humanity as a whole just might inch upwards a notch, but we’re not out of the woods.

For question #2 (global warming) I drew the 6 of Pentacles. This gave me some hope but it also told me that we humans are just holding even. In 2021, I don’t think global warming will get appreciably worse, but neither will it get appreciably better. Darn. But if we can hold even, that’s better than a year of Super Storms and Snow Bombs.

Question #3 (how will we respond to the year’s challenges), I drew the 10 of Wands. At first glance this might seem as though we’re in for a hard time. I think for those who are Covid or science-deniers, the times really are going to be hard: As in having to show a vaccine-ID card before getting into a restaurant, or who knows what else.

And for those of us who are lightworkers, I think some days in 2021 are going to feel as though we’re the only ones bearing the burden. Not a happy thought.

Of course I had to draw one last card, asking what we all can do to help move graciously into a year of vaccines, political in-fighting, and hyper-partisanship. The card I drew was Major Arcana XVIII – the Moon.

You know, it takes courage to walk between those howling dogs and follow a road whose end we do not know. So what do you say that we all get together across the globe and merge our intuitive and healing powers for the Highest Good of all? We weren’t put on the Planet to be Watchers. We’re here to make a difference.

If you interpret the cards differently or did an entirely unique spread, email me so I can post your take on my SageandShadow.com website. I’d really like to see several Tarot or other divination predictions for 2021. Just hit the reply button here, or send directly to sageandshadow@gmail.com

A Tiny Bit of Horn-Blowing!

My book, Ancestral Tarot, drops on March 1. If you go over to the Amazon page you’ll see some blush-inducing testimonials from the likes of Mary K. Greer, Benebell Wen, Christiana Gaudet, Alison Cross, V, Thalassa, and more. I feel like this is a book I was born to write – and it looks like some other folks agree. I couldn’t be more proud.

I’m offering a limited number of end-of-year Ancestral readings. Follow the link to get all the details. Once the 10 readings are spoken for, the page will disappear. This reading will never be offered again as 2020 is such an outlier, there’s no way I could offer the same reading in 2021.

This and That

Ethony wrote a great piece about charging your Tarot deck. Read it here. By the way, Ethony has a fun quiz that tells you your Tarot personality. It’s free and you’ll find it on her site at the top of the page. My type is called the Tarot Shadow Master. I had to chuckle when the report suggested I should work with clients’ Past Lives as that is the type of reading I really love doing.

I’ve been taking a class to improve my Lenormand skills, so was happy to find this article on learning Lenormand. It’s a great intro if this is a skillset you want to add to your offerings.

Catherine Chapman runs a fantastic site at Tarot Elements. I particularly liked this blog post on Angelic Protection Magick. Poke around the site as there are amazing tutorials on Tarot.

Instagram Lives

If you’re on Instagram, join me for a Live on December 15 at NOON Pacific, 3PM Eastern, 8PM UK. @AlisonCrossTarot and I will be chatting about the customs of New Year’s Eve as it’s done in the U.S., and in Scotland. I’m also going to be asking Alison about Scottish Witches.

Follow @nancysageshadow to be notified of when I go live.

And, as we leave Scotland, join me for a Live on December 17 at 5PM Pacific, 8 Eastern. @SilverRavenTarot and I will be talking family traditions, and more specifically the ones about folk medicine, folk magic, and folklore of her Italian family.

I think that wraps it up for me this month. But who knows, I may do a second newsletter or perhaps just an announcement email about some upcoming Instagram Lives I’m planning. And if you missed either the lives I did with Fred West @fred_punkofprophecy or John Hijatt @wyrdgifts1 you can find the replays on IGTV Fred and I talked Tarot, while John and I chatted about Tarot, runes, bindrunes, and the Ancestors.
