Hello my Tarot friends!
For many of us, 2020 has been a lesson not only in survival, but in re-prioritizing the things in life that give us joy. For me, it’s been a hard lesson in isolation, but also in realizing that what used to be my norm will never be the same.
2021 – especially once most of the population is vaccinated – is going to provide us all with opportunities to do things we love and go places we’ve only dreamed of. All it takes is deciding that the old path no longer fits.
Just like the 2 of Swords from the DruidCraft Tarot, we’re at the crossroads. Which direction we go is really up to us. Here’s hoping we choose the path of happiness.
The Tarot Giveaway
I sent emails this morning to the three newsletter subscribers who won a Tarot deck. I used a random number generator to choose winners. Congrats to those who won a deck!
But that doesn’t mean everyone else is left out in the cold. Keep reading.
My Happy New Year’s Gift to You
My publisher (Red Wheel/Weiser) kindly put together a 25-page excerpt from my upcoming book, Ancestral Tarot. If you haven’t already pre-ordered (and even if you have) this sample will give you a taste of the book and my take on working with the Ancestors. I hope you enjoy it.

Numerology and Me
Before I became a Tarot person I spent a long time doing numerology. To the point that I invested in a pricey (but excellent) piece of numerology software. Over time that software has been updated and refine and (IMHO) produces great results.
Although I haven’t made numerology reports available in a very long time, I was guided to go ahead and put them on my website. There are nine different reports, varying in length with the longest being 80-100 pages. Probably more about you and your future than you ever wanted to know!
I added a copy of my own Talent Report on the page, just to give you an idea of what was available. If you know me, or have watched any of my Instagram Lives, you’ll know that the Report is really accurate.
Oh, I forgot to tell you. For every report you purchase I’m doing a one-card Tarot draw for you. If you purchase a report for a friend, then one card for them, one for you. This makes the Ancestors happy.
A Tarot Spread for Predictions in 2021
I found this cool Kiki Dombroski Tarot spread. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a Tarot spread that is created specifically for doing global predictions. Here’s a screenshot (you can find it on Pinterest). If you want to know more about Kiki, here’s a link to her website. I’m really looking forward to doing this one!
Instagram Live with @Fred_punkofprophecy
On January 12, 2021, Fred West and I are going to do another Instagram Live. This time the topic’s Lenormand. Fred is a far better Lenormand reader than I am – and in fact we’re going to be talking about making the leap from Tarot to Lenormand.
I know some readers do it seamlessly. I don’t. We’ll also be showing you a variety of Lenormand decks including Celtic Lenormand, Friar’s Delight, Blue Bird, Sawyer’s, and more. Ship is from the Fairy Tale Lenormand
I’ll be posting more info about this event on my @nancysageshadow Instagram feed towards the end of the week of January 4 and also on the Sage and Shadow Facebook page. Hope to see you there.
Have You Joined Tarot Beyond Borders?
Fred and I co-manage a Tarot group page on Facebook called Tarot Beyond Borders. Of course it’s free.
Pre-Covid this used to be an in-person meeting here in San Diego but we’ve gone virtual for most of this past year and decided to remain virtual. We love the idea of people attending our once-a-month zooms from wherever they are in the world.
If you want to join us, use this link. When you ask to join you’ll see three questions (it’s kind of like saying the secret password!) and then we’ll add you as a member. Please feel free to post anything of interest to Tarot people – spreads, articles you’ve read, your own take on predictions, etc. We look forward to seeing you in the group.
Upcoming Events
I’ll be presenting at Staarcon on January 24, 2021. My topic is on identifying and working with destructive family patterns. If you’re going please let me know so I can keep an eye out for you!
I don’t have the link yet, but I’m doing an hour-long presentation on family patterns and relationships for the Tarot Association of the British Isles. It’s the end of Feb, and I’ll post about it when I have more information. Any fee I receive is going to be donated to Galgos del Sol – a dog rescue and sanctuary in Spain. The presentation is open to both TABI members and non-members. More as I know more.

What Is Your 2021 Focus Card?
There are many ways to find a focus card in the new year. You could calculate your Tarot card for the year using your month of birth, day of birth, plus the year), i.e. June 5 = 6+5+2021(5) = 16/7. So your card for the year would be the Chariot (7).
If you want to know your Court Card for 2021, use this approach by my friend Alison Cross (@alisoncrosstarot on Instagram). In the example I just used, 7 equals the Knight of Swords.
Or, you could shuffle the Major Arcana cards and draw one. Let this be your Focus Card for 2021. In shuffling, my Focus Card for 2021 is Major Arcana 1 – the Magician. Let’s see what magic I can create! If you’re open to it, I’d love to know what your Focus Card is, and how you plan on making use of the energy.
From the Ancestors
I couldn’t end this newsletter without a message from the Ancestors. What, I asked, do we most need to know in order to have a happy and successful 2021?
Their answer:
3 of Cups, the Star, 5 of Swords. In a nutshell: celebrate every day that you draw breath, know how important you are to the world, and swear off the thoughts that make you feel small. You are not.
Until next month, stay safe, embrace joy.
Your friend,
Nancy
