Ancient Places That Lure Me

Because I work with the Ancestors, I wanted to begin showing photos of ancient or old places that I’ve been drawn to.

This is a picture taken at Hovenweep. An Ancestral Puebloan (Anasazi) ruins that spreads across the corner of Colorado and Utah. It contains ruins of six villages and at one time housed more than 2,500 people.

To see the ruins you have to hike down a narrow trail from the canyon rim, walk across the bottom of the canyon and then hike up the other side. This shot was taken from partway up the canyon wall.

There are spirits here. My sister, who was hiking with me, heard a runner coming up the narrow trail behind her. She stepped off the trail to let him pass. When she turned, no one was there. Then, we both heard the faint lilt of a flute floating on the air from somewhere down the canyon. The Ancients are here, there’s no doubt about it.
