Spreads and Spells for Every Month of the Year
Tarot by the Moon, by Victoria Constantino is a book I’ve been waiting to dig into, but first had to finish writing Ancestral Magic!
If you work with lunar phases, you’ll know just how powerful moon magic can be. In addition, understanding the energies of each moon as well as the moon in each sign will prepare you for a lot of (happily) unexpected magic.
By the Moon
The first twelve chapters take readers through each month, January through December, explaining the energy of that particular month. If you are new to moon magic, don’t worry. The Introduction covers the basics, including the phases of the moon, the elements, tarot interpretation, as well as tarot symbology.
Each month has multiple tarot spreads as well as three to four spells for the specific month. In addition, each month has a few goodies such as how to use tarot to check in with your intuition, how to work with crystals, and animal symbolism.
A September Tarot-Moon Spread
Since I’m writing this in September – the month of the Harvest Moon – I wanted to work with a spread called Clearing Clutter (a perfect one for a Virgo!). This is a nine-card spread that asks the questions:
- Where do I need to clear emotional clutter?
- Where do I need to clear mental clutter?
- Where do I need to clear physical clutter?
- What is taking too much of my time?
- What is taking too much of my energy?
- What relationships do I need to reassess?
- How will clearing clutter impact me?
- What will this make room for?
- What is my overall guidance?
Without getting into all nine of my cards, I did want to share three of them – Questions 5, 7, and 8.
- What is taking too much of my energy? Wheel of Fortune
- How will clearing clutter impact me? 3 of Cups
- What will this make room for: 9 of Cups
I tend to spin my wheels a lot, bouncing from project to project. And in truth, it really does sap my energy. If I can clear all of the clutter it will impact me by allowing me time with friends and family to actually celebrate, making room for true joy.
This is a powerful spread, particularly for this Virgo done during her birthday month. But I suspect all of the spreads here bring a power that’s amped by the month in which they’re performed. I can’t wait to get into October and November – the months of the Ancestors.
If you don’t have a copy of Tarot by the Moon – this really is a must-have for your magical library.
The deck I used is the Cosmic Slumber Tarot (isn’t it beautiful!)
