The Ancestors’ Issue

image

As we roll into the first days of October, it’s natural for thoughts to turn towards the Ancestors. Within a few days of one another we celebrate Samhain, Halloween, Day of the Dead, All Soul’s Day, and All Saint’s Day.

Although my friend, Alison Cross (Tarot Thrones, The Court Card Blog) would bop me over the head for saying ‘the veil is thin’, the truth is, the boundary between worlds is almost transparent.

To acknowledge the Ancestors, I’m doing an #AncestorChallenge on Instagram, inviting readers to do one post each week of the month that answers a specific question. And in case you were wondering, yes, there is a prize and yes it will be awarded to someone who posted the answers each week, and yes, that person will be randomly chosen via a name generator.

Prize is an Amazon gift card.(I was going to give away a deck but I’d rather you pick the one you really want)

This is also a great time of year to create or refine your Ancestor Altar. Your altar can include objects that you feel relate to your family tree, such as

  • photos
  • heirlooms
  • food or beverage, especially ones that relate to an ancestor or country of origin
  • candles (always good for beginning a ritual)
  • objects that relate to a country of origin, such as a flag or other symbol

One of my own practices is to stop in the afternoon and make a cup of tea using one of my mom’s teacups. It’s my way of saying ‘I remember you, I love you’.

If you want to do a simple three-card spread asking for ancestral help, check out my latest blog post, Honoring the Ancestors.

Whatever you do this month to work with the Ancestors, I would love to hear about it. Just hit the reply button and your email will come directly to me.

Something Eerie Coming on Halloween

On October 31, at 6 PM Pacific, 8 Central, 9 Eastern, @SilverRavenTarot and I will be hosting a memorable event on Instagram Live relating to you and those in Spirit. We’ll be announcing the details on October 15, so be sure to follow both of us. This is one you won’t want to miss.

Shameless Self-Promotion

These last couple of weeks have been intensely intense! My book, Ancestral Tarot, was made available for pre-order on all of your normal book selling sites. In addition, I was interviewed by Psychic Artist, Melanie Alberts. She is the host of the Psychic Playdate podcast. You can listen in to the interview here.

I also did about 20 minutes of cold readings on FB Live with Tarot Grandmaster Christiana Gaudet. But instead of using Tarot, Christiana asked me to use an oracle deck I created for myself. Give a watch and tell me what you think. By the way, I hate doing predictive readings, but there I was doing them anyway!

Jenna’s Card Corner

I couldn’t resist asking my friend, Jenna Ball, to plug us all into her network of new decks – especially those appearing on Kickstarter. If you don’t know Jenna, she is the host of the YouTube Channel: Jennifer Ball’s Witch House. There, Jenna does unboxing of amazing Tarot and Oracle Decks.

Jenna’s choice of decks to support this month are:

The Crystal Forests – An Intuitive Oracle Deck

Healers of The Earth Oracle

The Peaceful Mind Tarot

I added one more deck of my own: The Guardian of the Night Tarot. This deck was a successful fund on Indiegogo and is shipping out this week. However, I received an email this morning saying there were still a few decks available for purchase. You can check it out here.

Thanks, as always, for being here. I know you could sign up for 50 other newsletters – so double thanks for signing up for mine 🙂

Until next month,

Nancy
