It’s been raining. A lot. That’s a good thing because here in the Southwest, we need all the rain we can get. . So I put on my light hikers (the only shoes that keep my feet dry), my rain jacket and took off for my morning walk. The instant I passed this plant I knew what it was without looking. Society Garlic.
I wondered why the flower on this plant is so beautiful but the smell is so bad. You know, of course, that made me consider what other things in life are beautiful but at their core they’re pretty stinky. This is one of those ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ things.
So next time I see what looks really beautiful out there in the world of people, I’m going to do my best to make sure I’m not just seeing Society Garlic.
